Finnish government explosive experts said Thursday that a hand grenade stored at the Åland Museum for almost 30 years was live.
A member of the public found the Russian first world war grenade in a vegetable garden and transported it to the museum in the footwell of her car.
Over the years a number of museum workers, assuming the piece of ordnance to be harmless, stored the grenade in their offices until two workers contacted the authorities last December.
