Yevgeni Oskarovich Paton

The T-34 medium tank was superior to the German Panzer tanks because it had a more powerful cannon, a higher top speed (32 MPH to 25 for the Panzers), the armour was so superior that German shells bounced off it, superior welded construction invented by Academician Paton, and it had a wider track so it did not get bogged down in mud like the German Panzer. The Germans decided that the Ukrainian T-34 tank was so superior to the Panzer that they would have copied it but "Unfortunately for Germany this was not possible. German engineering technology was not up to it, many of the special alloys used in its construction were not available," states Andrew Kershaw in Weapons & War Machines (New York 1976) p. 192.

Everyday I Die

Dead-cell Olympus Trip 35 with expired Fujicolor Superia X-TRA 400. Since the selenium cells stopped functioning, the light meter is out. But all in all the results are not too bad, if you don't mind a bit of rustic grain.

The photo was taken during the Chinese New Year festivities in the City Hall Atrium, The Hague, NL, 28 January 2017.

Radio Broadcast, a trade publication, regularly printed a list of active radio stations operating at a minimum of one kilowatt. By 1926, there were six radio stations operating in Virginia. WRVA was the most powerful.

Occupational therapy: putting a Helios 44M-4 58mm f/2 lens on a Yashica FX-3 body. The tape was applied to prevent light leaks. No infinity yet, but that will be the next step. Non-branded ISO400 film, expiration date unknown. The burn marks are a Murphy's Law thing, some issue during developing, but the shots did turn out interesting enough to post.
