Hester Scheurwater: Glamour Girls

In Glamour Girls, as in many of her short films, Hester Scheurwater's camera explores the relationship between human beings and space, and between humans themselves. That relationship does not flourish. The modern individual - in this case three women imprisoned by the glass and concrete of sleek high-rise structures - appears isolated from reality, unable to connect with itself or its surroundings. The women are modern geisha's, with excessive, smudged make-up, and limbs covered in blood. After trying to fill the void with glamour, they lie down in silence, realizing that innocence has been lost.

Ping Geography

Ping Geography – Cristobal Mendoza:

A developing work that involves the constant translation of current network ping times into geographical distances, creating a map-based visualization that compresses and stretches according to network conditions between the client application and user-specified servers. The basic process involves the geolocation of the servers and the client, and its subsequent plotting on a world map. The map then distorts according to ping times. The visualization is fully navigable, with panning and zooming available.

The application is being developed in C++ and OpenGL, using the cross-platform SDL framework.
