The pieces shown here feature the artwork of graphic artist Guido Crepax (1933-2003), who was hugely influential in the development of European comic art in the second half of the 20th century. His most famous storyline, featuring the character, 'Valentina', was created in 1965. This series was very much in the spirit of the 60s, incorporating eroticism, and psychedelic, and dream-like storylines. In Crepax's work, many references are made to the works of 20th century 'Avant-Garde' artists, such as René Magritte, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Piet Mondrian, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol.

Deze is min of meer zonder spelfouten (een Engelse ziekte als 'uw internetbankieren rekening' vind je op de ING-site zelf ook). De weggever zit 'm met name in de link achter 'Bekijk uw bericht'. Je gaat namelijk naar http://livtest.dk/cmsmadesimple/modules/News/templates/bankieren.html. De pagina ziet er helemaal uit als een officiële ING-site maar aan de URL en vooral aan de domeinextensie .dk (Denemarken) kun je zien dat het geen ING-pagina is. Andere weggevers: de termen 'Privacy Policy en 'Disclaimer' aan het eind van de mail bevatten geen hyperlink (maar dat is maar een klein schoonheidsfoutje dat je snel over het hoofd zult zien); de mail eindigt met 'Groeten', niet bepaald een afsluiting die een bank zal gebruiken. Al met al: niet intrappen.

Monniken, ridders en krijgers

A Fighting Monk
The above represents a belligerent monk of the Kamakura epoch. The Buddhists of those days had quite an army of fighting priests to protect their rights, or maintain their ground against rival creeds. He wears his clerical robes over his armor, and his head is covered with the sacred Kesa.

Knight of the Nanhoku-cho Period
This knight is armed with an iron club which is one of the characteristic weapons of the time. The chain work protecting the arm and legs, giving more freedom of movement, is also a notable advance.

Warrior of the Ashikaga Period
The epoch which follows is known as the Ashikaga period (15th and 16th century), in which the wars of Uyosugi and Hosokawa were the most noteworthy.
The figure represents a warrior just releasing his arrow. The form of the helmet has become more simple, the size of the side wings and hind parts being very small, as compared with the Fujiwara and Kamakura helmets. Notice also the use of large iron plates for the breast-plate instead of small pieces of iron (kozane) joined together, as in the preceding armor.
