Uit 1930 daterend urnenmonument van H.G. van Wijngaarden (1876-1929), eerste predikant van de Vrije Gemeente te Amsterdam na de dood van haar oprichters, de gebroeders Hugenholtz. Het monument is van de hand van de beeldhouwer Nicolaas van der Kreek (1896-1967) en werd bekostigd uit een speciaal daartoe opgericht fonds.

Hoog asymmetrisch opgezet urnenmonument bestaande uit een ranke drie meter hoge achterplaat van euvillesteen die paraboolvormig eindigt en waartegen rechts van het midden een haakse en lagere plaat van hetzelfde materiaal waaruit bovenaan een sculptuur voortkomt in de vorm van een gestileerde mannenfiguur met zijn rechterhand in spreekhouding en zijn linkerhand rustend op een bijbel. Links van deze dwarsplaat en haaks op de achterplaat bevindt zich onderaan een forse urn van ruwbehakt syaniet met een halfronde voorzijde en een deksel in de vorm van een smaller afgerond blok dat gladder afgewerkt is. De achterplaat draagt in bronzen letters (ontbreken deels) de volgende opschriften: "H.G. VAN/ WIJNGAARDEN/ 1-7-1929" en lager "VOOR VROOMHEID/ IN/ PROTESTANTISME". Op de linkerzijde van de dwarsplaat staat in bronzen letters (ruim 2/5 ontbreekt) van boven naar onder "VEREENIGING/ `VRIJE GEMEENTE'/ TE AMSTERDAM/ EVANGELISCHE/ MAATSCHAPPIJ/ EN/ INTERNATIONAAL/ VERBOND TOT/ VEREENIGING EN/ BEVORDERING/ VAN HET/ PROTESTANTISME". Aan de rechterzijde wordt de dwarsplaat geflankeerd door een meer terugliggende en enigszins lagere rechthoekige dwarsplaat van syaniet.

Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische waarde als karakteristiek en gaaf bewaard urnenmonument uit het tweede kwart van de twintigste eeuw op de begraafplaats Westerveld; wegens de funerair-historische en genealogische waarde; wegens het materiaalgebruik en vormgeving. These shots were taken with a second-hand Minolta Hi-Matic auto focus. The pics are definitely fun, but probably only once, twice at most.

These shots were taken with a Polaroid 636 and Impossible Color Instant Film for 600. As you can see, there are some consistent emulsion drag marks, which were also found when using this film with a Polaroid Impulse AF (shots from that camera in a later blog post). Now, some may consider this a feature. You be the judge.

Analog on digital - Flektogon on Canon EOS

This is what you get when you pop a Flektogon 2.8/35, Aus JENA DDR (Zebra) onto a Canon EOS 1200D. The images come out quite light, and have an inherent subtle quality which is hard to attain with a modern lens.

Second-hand Lomo camera, straight from St Petersburg (a gift from a good friend), unbranded expired 35mm film, 400 ASA. Minor edits in PhotoToaster for iPad.

Möglichst bald entwickeln

Alfo PR-P 100 126 film, expiration date 1990-2. I found two of these cassettes in a second-hand store in Arnhem (NL). According to the owner, these films had been lying there for years, so no cool storage.

The shots were taken with a second-hand (or third- or fourth-) Kodak Instamatic 155X on a sunny day and the rolls were developed in standard C-41, homebrew. Oh, the boxes say “Möglichst bald entwickeln” (Process ASAP). Did that.

Sony DSC-V3 and Infrared Photography

These shots were taken with a Sony Cybershot DSC-V3 with a 52mm infrared pass filter. The DSC-V3 has a Nightshot mode which means you'll be able to take IR shots without physically modifying the camera. Just add an IR pass filter and you're good to go. The photos will have a green hue, so you'll have to do some minor editing to get a b&w equivalent. The DSC-V3 is quite steady, these photos were all taken without using a tripod.
